Why ILOTA Membership and This Year’s ILOTA Conference Matter
Author: Erin Epley, OTD, OTR/L
On November 20-21, ILOTA will host its 2026 Annual Conference at the NIU Naperville Conference Center. As always, conference offers occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs), educators, and students an opportunity to step away from the demands of the everyday to reconnect with the values, research, and most importantly, the incredible people from our profession. If you haven’t heard already, this year’s keynote speaker is a star in her own right. On Friday, November 20th at 1:00 pm, Dr. Arameh Anvarizadeh, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA, and President of AOTA will deliver a timely keynote entitled “Courage is Collective: Reimagining Occupational Therapy Through Building Community, Connection, and Shared Ownership to Drive Change.” Occupational therapy is facing many new challenges in these uncertain political times, and what happens next cannot be left to a small group of leaders at the national or state level. It requires all of us to be in the room and at the table. Echoing the upcoming keynote, it requires us to come together in community, amplify our voices, and drive change as a collective.
