Description:

Join us for an engaging and educational presentation by Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon Robert Gray, MD, of Endeavor Health Orthopaedic & Spine Institute on “Complex Hand Nerve Injury & Reconstruction.” Trauma to the hand is common, but complex hand injuries, including nerve damage, make up only about 3% of all hand injuries. Still, these injuries can lead to sensory and motor dysfunction, resulting in significant functional impairment and even long-term disability. This webinar will highlight the critical role occupational therapists play in the multidisciplinary approach to nerve injury management and rehabilitation as they discover advanced nerve repair techniques and their clinical implications.

Participants will gain insights into the importance of nerve decompression in the treatment of nerve repair, and learn how nerve stimulation is being used to enhance outcomes in both nerve repair and transfers. The lecture also explores the growing use of allograft nerve and amniotic tissue in reconstruction, which has shown to promote nerve regeneration and healing – among other benefits. This evidence-based presentation will better equip occupational therapists to collaborate with surgical teams, guide post-operative care, and tailor therapy interventions to support optimal functional recovery. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from a nationally and internationally sought-after lecturer to expand your clinical expertise and make a greater impact in the treatment of hand nerve injuries.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Recognize the role of nerve decompression in the treatment of nerve repair
  • Describe the use of nerve stimulation in nerve repair and transfers
  • Evaluate the use of allograft nerve and amniotic tissue in complex nerve injury treatment
