This 3-part series offers a deep dive into learning and understanding basic AI concepts, develop effective prompting techniques, apply an ethical auditing framework, and adopt commonly-used generative AI tools to optimize workflows, care efficiencies, and decision-making in their day-to-day roles.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. understand core Generative AI concepts, capabilities, and limitations relevant to OT practice, education, and program administration.
2. generate at least two AI-assisted products (e.g., SOAP note, lesson plan, policy brief) during guided, small-group labs.
3. draft a 30-day implementation plan that identifies resources, metrics, and stakeholders for safe AI adoption in one work setting.

Pooja A. Patel, DrOT, OTR/L, BCG, CDP

Dr. Patel is a Chicago-based occupational therapist, entrepreneur, author, and AI educator who helps clinicians and family caregivers navigate aging, technology, and health-care systems. She is the founder of Aging Together, an educational media platform on aging, care, & caregiving, and a B2B advisory for agetech and caretech startups. She is also the founder of The OT Algorithm, the first OT-specific AI literacy platform exploring the ethical and practical use of generative AI in clinical practice, education, and research. Dr. Patel teaches university courses on mental health, older adults, leadership, and AI ethics. She has spoken at AOTA INSPIRE, state conferences, and OT academic programs, and her work has been featured on multiple podcasts and in articles on Care.com, Spotlyts Magazine, Authority Magazine, The Story Exchange, and more.
