Updates from Illinois Representative to the AOTA Representative Assembly
Hello, my name is Robin Jones and I am your representative to the AOTA Representative Assembly. I assumed office July 1 2010 and look forward to serving you over the next 3 years. I have lived in Illinois since 1980. Throughout my career I have been actively involved in ILOTA, AOTA and NBCOT as well as the Illinois Licensure Board. I have held positions in each of these groups and am glad to be back working with AOTA members in Illinois within the structures of AOTA.
I will periodically send out updates and information that I think is of interest to AOTA members in Illinois. If you are not an AOTA member I strongly encourage you to become one as it’s critical that we remain connected and informed about the issues that impact all of us in today’s healthcare and policy arena. January 2012 Update
Greetings fellow ILOTA members and members of AOTA. I would like to take this time to update you on a few things that are occurring within AOTA in case you are not already aware of them.
1) AOTA Commission on Practice Seeks Feedback on Framework: If you are not already aware, the AOTA Commission on Practice is in the process of review and updating the Framework document. They are seeking member feedback at this time. Only AOTA members have a right to provide input since this is an AOTA document so if you are an AOTA member please consider reviewing the information below and following through with submitting your thoughts. Remember, these are documents that have a significant impact on the practice of OT and how third party payers, etc. view OT. We want them to reflect what is really occurring in the field and this requires your attention to them. See below for more information about the review process. The deadline is February 20th!
2) We are nearing the 2012 AOTA Conference which is being held in Indianapolis, IN this year so I hope that you are in the process of making plans to attend. Registration, hotel information, etc. is available on the AOTA Website (www.aota.org)
3) The AOTA Elections are taking place at this time. This is your opportunity to weigh in on who you want as your leaders. This year we are electing the following: President- Elect, Vice President, Ethics Commission Chairperson and Commission on Education Chairperson. In addition, two positions for the Board of Directors. Special Interest Section Chairpersons are also up for election. PLEASE CAST YOUR VOTE!!! Again, if you don’t engage in the process now you lose your “right” to complain if you do not like the direction that AOTA goes in the future!!! To vote go to: http://www.aota.org/governance/elections-2012.aspx (you will be prompted to sign into your AOTA account.
4) The agenda for the 2012 Representative Assembly will be available soon and I will be making more information about the business before the RA in the near future so stay tuned!!!
